July 2012 Medical illustrations published
This marks the third time my work has been published. I've recently begun doing medical illustration for a neighbor. My images are to be published in a new edition of a medical book. This is the most serious work I've done thus far, and also the most different. Medical illustration conveys images in clear matter of fact manner. It is a no-frills sort of illustrating. I enjoy its straight forwardness and hope to do more work in this field of illustration.
April 2012 Illustration published in "Earthwords".
My illustration, Masked, has been accepted into the "Earthwords", an annual book released at the University of Iowa, which is prestigious for an undergraduate. "Earthwords" marks the second time my illustrations have been published, a very exciting accomplishment.
December 2011 Word Art Gallery Show
My piece for "Word Art" in the Raygun Gallery was installed and displayed. Each artist was paired up to work on a collaborative piece with a writer's workshop student. My piece featured painting on layers of plexiglass to create a sense of depth, a new medium, with very desirable results. This was my first show after returning to Iowa City and I hope to do more with Raygun.
September 2011 First Big Illustration Job
My first contracted job, illustrating a children's book, has now come to an end. I've successfully illustrated thirty two full color pages which will soon be published into a real book. As it was my first big job I'm very excited to see my drawings printed up on glossy pages with text and covers. I hope this job brings many more illustrating gigs as this is what I love doing.
May 2011 Handmade Book Showing
During my final semester at The Kansas City Art Institute a show was set up of the past workshop's final pieces. I displayed seven hand-bound books featuring illustrations and paintings on various themes.
November 2009 Senior Art Showing at Opstad Auditorium Gallery
Upon graduating high school in November I was granted a solo art show in Iowa City Highschool's Opstad Auditorium Gallery. It featured all of my work from my senior year of high school, as well as earlier works, revealing what I had learned and gained during my years in the school's art programs.
July 2008 Iowa City Gallery Walk U.A.Y Show
My first big show, at United Action for Youth (U.A.Y), which was part of a much larger gallery walk. This was my first solo show which set records for attendance at the U.A.Y gallery. The "Skittle Wrapper Dress" being the main draw.
